After a long and eventually rewarding season, it’s good to look back over all the ups (of which there were many) and the downs and appreciate where it all began nine or so months ago. There’s been some truly terrific moments, some outrageous goals and as always some games that leave you absolutely fuming. But thankfully we made it.
Now it’s time to cast your vote for the various TCC awards which we’ve assembled. All the results will be revealed on Canary Talk where the panelists will debate the suggestions and give out the awards accordingly.
1. Goal Of The Season
We’ll start off with the one everyone likes: best goal. Some cracking efforts too. I think I’ve heard the Partridge ‘traction engine’ quote more times this season than ever – clearly it’s a good barometer for a football team’s success.
We’ve tried to stick to a maximum of six contenders for each category, however it has to be said, picking just six was some task.
2. Best Opposition Goal
Well as we’re on the theme of goals, we might as well get this next one out of the way. To be honest, it’s pleasing that we can look back and do this award without too much discomfort. Half of the goals we’ve conceded have been scrappy and avoidable, but there are a select few which were simply too good (though that’s not to say Whittaker or Martin weren’t to blame). Pick between them now.
3. Most Improved Player
Most improved player is a gentle way of saying ‘you started off rubbish, and you turned out alright’. Regardless, this Sunday League favourite has a place in our awards ceremony. So pick between the three we’ve offered. And no, Johnson isn’t available because he’s been exceptional ALL season – plus we can’t have him winning Player Of The Season and Most Improved Player…or can we? No, let’s stick to these four.
4. Worst Team Performance
Luckily, there aren’t too many to choose from in this category. That’s not to say these games weren’t bad (they were very bad) but in the end they didn’t tarnish our season beyond repair. Hopefully this doesn’t conjure up too many bad memories.
5. Worst Individual Performance
Now we’re talking. The opportunity to have one last dig at Whittaker despite his remarkable transformation since Alex Neil came in. Eat your heart out scapegoaters!
6. Signing Of The Season
Now there aren’t loads to choose from – I mean, we brought in quite a bit of wood that clearly falls into the ‘dead’ category. Anyway – I’m getting ahead of myself – that’s the next award. This is for best signing and so we’ve shortlisted the three who have had the most impact.
7. Worst Signing Of The Season
This award should probably be called ‘most unnecessary, uninspiring and underwhelming signing award’ because other than Lafferty, none of the other purchases who have flopped ever really threatened the first team. I guess such a title doesn’t quite have the same ring to it anyway. Worst signing will have to do.
8. Best Opposition Player
Generally the better players left their mark one way or another. Daryl Murphy though – he’s still missing. Let me know if you see him.
9. Worst Opposition (based on performances vs Norwich)
Now in reality it’s got to be Millwall or Blackpool, but did anyone see Watford or Ipswich turn up this season? I didn’t, so as a result, they’re in there for selection.
For the next four categories there are too many to poll, so please comment down below, tweet us at @TheCarrowCrowd with the #TCCAwards, or head over to our Facebook page.
10. Best Away Fans (at Carrow Road)
11. Best Home Fans (away from home)
12. Funniest Moment
13. Best Away Programme
All will be revealed on the podcast (Canary Talk) so stay tuned.
