Norwich and Celtic to battle for Iranian starlet

Norwich City have been drawn to NEC Nijmegen’s 21-year-old Iranian winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh in an attempt to bolster the worryingly bare wide areas, seeking to make the youngster their second signing of the summer.

Jahanbakhsh has already attracted attention from Scottish champions Celtic and with the Iranian boosting an impressive record of thirteen goals and eighteen assists in thirty-one games for the Jupiler League side, interest is likely to grow. Mainly deployed on the right-hand side of midfield, Jahanbakhsh is also equally adept on the left or through the middle. With his contract expiring in summer 2016, NEC are likely to want to cash in on their prized youngster now or risk losing him for a paltry fee in a year’s time.

The midfielder joined NEC in 2013 on a free transfer from Iranian side Damash Gilan and after his note-worthy performances for his country in the World Cup last summer, Alex Neil clearly sees his potential and is looking to bring in a winger after the failure to land Craig Noone from Cardiff in January.
