The aftermath of Saturday’s dominant victory over Wolves caused the transfer news of two Yellow’s youth prodigies to slip under the radar somewhat. The players in question being Cameron McGeehan and Jamar Loza, the former embarking upon a season long loan with former club Luton Town – a move which some of our sources have suggested will be made permanent come the summer. McGeehan qualified this decision by stating earlier this season that “I switched my attention to trying to get into Norwich’s first team, and that didn’t happen” and so the question is raised: could we have done any more to get him first team football? From a personal standpoint, I would argue that while he was a force in our FA Youth Cup campaign (which we won… just thought that should be mentioned) he was never really going to be given consistent game time purely due to the amount of competition in his position. At the time of writing, the club has eight central midfielders – seven of which are above youth level, it just isn’t feasible to give him his shot now.
The other news is of course the return of Jamar Loza to the Canaries following a one month loan spell at League One side, Yeovil Town during which he made five appearances. Recently appointed manager, Terry Skiverton commended Loza’s contribution saying “Jamar has been a pleasure to work with during his loan spell and everyone at the club wishes him well for the future.” Following the deadline day loaning out of Kyle Lafferty, it isn’t unthinkable that the Jamaican may get a chance in the first team this season – coming off the bench perhaps, hopefully to bury a winner.
