Middlesbrough squad boosted by Sarmiento return for Norwich clash

Middlesbrough winger Jeremy Sarmiento returns from injury to face Norwich City in Saturday’s Championship fixture at the Riverside Stadium.

The attacker missed three matches across all competitions with a leg problem but has now resumed full training. Manager Kim Hellberg travelled with the wide player for Tuesday’s EFL Cup tie at Crystal Palace, ultimately omitting him to avoid an early setback.

Speaking to The Northern Echo, Hellberg confirmed his player is “ready to go” and detailed the midweek caution. “He was with us at Crystal Palace, but wasn’t in the squad because it would have been a minor risk, I think, by putting him in a little bit too early, and I didn’t feel that was necessary,” Hellberg added.

Home Attack Tests Clement Setup

Sarmiento bolsters a home forward line that features summer arrival Will Lankshear, who has recorded five goals in three appearances on Teesside. That dynamic attacking depth will directly test Clement’s defensive framework as the visitors target another away result.

The away side arrive carrying momentum, having won three of their past four Championship outings to climb into ninth place. They also boast restored energy across the pitch after executing a strict rotation strategy against Birmingham City on Wednesday.

Key starting pair Mohamed Toure and Anis Ben Slimane will reclaim their starting roles after resting during that midweek victory, presenting Hellberg with dual threats on the transition.
