Norwich City Hand Sheffield United First Defeat of Season

Norwich City ended their away win drought with a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane to inflict the hosts’ first defeat of the season.

Manager Philippe Clement made three lineup changes following a midweek loss, bringing Ben Chrisene and Anthony Musaba into the starting side. The visitors struck early when Musaba curled a shot onto the crossbar and over the line after eight minutes.

Patrick Bamford quickly drew the hosts level with a composed left-footed finish from the edge of the area. Despite growing home pressure, Mohamed Toure broke away to restore the advantage shortly before the interval.

Clement Substitutes Expose Defensive Flaws

Seeking fresh momentum, Clement made a decisive double-substitution on the hour mark. Mathias Kvistgaarden replaced Toure and immediately extended the lead. The forward reacted first during a penalty box scramble to convert his third goal of the campaign with his first touch.

The defensive adjustments proved equally crucial as Norwich navigated late pressure. Chrisene produced a vital challenge to deny Bamford in the closing stages and preserve the two-goal cushion. This defensive resolve outlined a successful tactical blueprint for the visitors.

Ruairi McConville and his fellow defenders held firm against late attempts from Kalvin Phillips and Sam McCallum.

The squad will now return to Carrow Road to prepare for a crucial midfield test against Birmingham City on Wednesday evening.
