  • How to get through the difficult pre-season.
  • Don’t just support the team – support the city!
  • We can get through this!

Now is the awkward point for any Norwich City supporter. Our season is finished, it’s a while before the World Cup so now you have to find ways to fill in the time before you can get excited again.

Here are a few tips to help support Norwich during pre season.

Don’t read too much into it

It can be tempting to go full supporter when watching pre-season matches. There is also the tension of feeling, “We haven’t signed someone yet!” before the players have had a chance to put on their flip-flops.

Give yourself a moment to relax. Now is a good time to catch up on non-football reading, watch films that you didn’t see at the weekend or attempt non-football conversation.

Immersion

Alternatively, if you find the thought of non-football reality too stinky, you can always do a career mode on Branded Football Game as either player or manager.

If you’re any good at the game, you can also have that deluded smug moment of how much better you are in the virtual world.

Just be careful with the management games, though, you may find yourself going, “Just one more game” at four in the morning.

Activity

There are other ways to distract yourself. You can pretend you’re a football scout by looking up different leagues on Youtube and then do the Di Caprio pointing meme every time we are linked with a name you found.

You can also create your own all-time Norwich City XI, something we did in a previous article.

Social media also allows you to get creative- see what the maddest rumour you could get by saying “My mate Barry’s aunt knows a tea lady at Carrow Road and she says that she saw Cristiano Ronaldo in Greggs”

Sales

The Norwich City club shop currently has an end-of-season sale on. This can mean you get some fun novelty items, really early Christmas shopping or take items with former players on and destroy them like you’re in an Angry Video Game nerd skit.

Support Norwich

Supporting Norwich doesn’t have to end with the football!

Our Fine City also has multiple theatres, independent restaurants and activities. Just don’t whoop too much while you’re in the Norwich Castle.

Blue plaque walk

Distract yourself and occupy your time by walking around the city and learning random trivia. Did you know that Norwich was the first city in the UK with a postcode?

Won’t be long…

Of course, it is also important to remind yourself that it won’t be long before the season is back and you can go through the emotional ebb and flow of being a Norwich City supporter.

For now, you can wait and imagine the possibilities of an awesome new season.
