My All-Time Norwich City XI Part One- The Setup

As a Norwich City fan, the international break can be a difficult time. There is a hole in the schedule where you would normally mentally and physically prepare for the next game.

While I like fantasy league, I am not great at actually following it. So instead, I have decided to compile my all-time Norwich City XI for you to either applaud loudly or boo and hiss like you’re at the panto.

The rules

The first rule of my Norwich City XI is that it is my team. This does not mean that it is the undisputed best Norwich City XI ever. What it does mean is that I am considering the different players of the different eras of the team that I have watched over time.

This does mean a few different questions come up. How do you compare players from different eras? What formation do you play?

Are you basing this on quality or a team that in theory should blend together based on their individual and team attributes?

How I’m doing it

First up my plan is to refresh my memory and compare position on the pitch- Goalkeeper, defence, midfield and attack.

As for comparing different eras this is based who I consider ideal in that position and what particular qualities that individual brings to the team regardless of how muddy they got or if they like wearing gloves when other players wouldn’t wear them during warmer weather.

With regard to formation I am going to go with 4-4-2. This is not because of any old fashioned attachment to this formation rather the fact that for purely selfish reasons I want to have more than one striker upfront when making my selection.

I want to hear from you

During this process of putting together the Norwich City XI I will be comparing different positions and players from different eras in those positions.

There will be amazing players who deserve to be in the final team who will not feature though they will be included in upcoming articles so you can check them for honourable mentions before we get to the final pick.

Please let me know who your Norwich City XI would be, the formation and whether or not players today should be allowed to express themselves via hairstyle or footwear.
