Krul hints at Norwich stay beyond the end of the season
Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul has hinted at staying at the club beyond the end of the season.
Krul says that he is grateful to the club for giving him a second chance in football and that factors into any decisions about his future.
The Dutchman played every minute of Norwich’s Championship-winning campaign and has been the number one this term in the Premier League.
Speaking to The Pink’Un regarding his future, Krul said:
There’s still a third (of the season) to play, there’s a lot of football to play. I signed an extension and I’m grateful to this club because they gave me the opportunity to come back into football, so that definitely weighs really heavily.

This could be a huge boost for Norwich if they are able to keep Krul at the club next season, assuming that they are relegated to the second tier.
Krul has been excellent this season, as he has kept Norwich in a number of games with his superb reflexes and shot-stopping skills. This was highlighted on Saturday as he made a top-class double save from Mo Salah and Naby Keita against Liverpool – with the score 0-0 at the time.
It will be interesting to see what Norwich do with the goalkeeping situation, though. Ralf Fahrmann looks set to return to Schalke following his loan spell at Carrow Road, which would leave Michael McGovern as Krul’s only competition.
McGovern did not play a single minute of league action in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons under Farke, which suggests that he does not think he is good enough to compete for the number one spot.
This means that the club could seek out another goalkeeper to provide competition for Krul, as Fahrmann has this season. Giving Krul a player to compete against could help him to up his game and motivate himself to keep performing to a high level, regardless of which division they are in.
