Norwich City host Newcastle United in their first home game back in the Premier League.
The Canaries faced Liverpool in the opening game of the new season, but ended up the losing side after a first-half rampage from Liverpool – the score at the final whistle 4-1 to the Reds.
Despite not gaining any points and letting in four goals, there were some promising performances from many of Daniel Farke’s men. Tim Krul pulled off some impressive stops, Ben Godfrey was solid at the back and Teemu Pukki opened his account for the season with a calm and composed finish into the bottom corner.
Christoph Zimmermann and Timm Klose remain on the sidelines, however, leaving Godfrey and Grant Hanley as the club’s only central defenders.
Daniel Farke will hoping his side can get their first points of the campaign, but how will he line up on Saturday?
Here is our predicted XI…
Tim Krul
The Dutchman put in a fine performance last time out, despite conceding four goals. He will be hoping to impress Daniel Farke and the home crowd on Saturday.
Max Aarons
The youngster will be hoping to continue on from his impressive breakthrough last season. He will want to prove himself in the Premier League.
Ben Godfrey
Godfrey was one of the standout players against Liverpool and Carrow Road will be eager to see him put in a similarly impressive performance at the back.
Grant Hanley
With Klose and Zimmermann both out, Hanley is Farke’s only option at the back alongside Godfrey. He’ll be hoping for a better performance after he scored an own goal against Liverpool.
Jamal Lewis
He played more minutes than any other Norwich player in pre-season and was solid against Liverpool. He remains the obvious first-choice left-back this season.
Tom Trybull
We predict it may still be too soon to introduce Ibrahim Amadou to the starting eleven, so Tom Trybull keeps his place at CDM.
Moritz Leitner
Leitner’s second-half appearance against Liverpool showed fans he needs to be starting. He controlled the game and created chances.
Emi Buendia
Nicknamed ‘The Championship Messi’ last season, Emi deserves to keep his place. Hopefully he can continue to show his class and potential.
Marco Stiepermann
Despite an unconvincing performance last Friday, Marco is crucial to the way Norwich play and so deserves a second chance and keeps his place in our predicted XI.
Todd Cantwell
Cantwell enjoyed a good display against Liverpool last week and will be hoping for a similar performance against Newcastle. Patrick Roberts could, however, challenge him for his place.
Teemu Pukki
Obvious choice and hopefully he can get himself on the scoresheet again against Newcastle after finding the net against Liverpool.
