Jackett backs Raggett to impress – does he have a future at Norwich?

Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett has backed on-loan Norwich defender Sean Raggett to bring a lot to his team this season.

Jackett says that Raggett is an effective defender who will offer them a threat in both boxes.

As quoted by the Pink’Un, Jackett said this:

He will bring a lot to the team this year.

He is a slightly different type of centre-back to the others, but similarly an effective one, and one that will be pushing hard to get into the team.

He probably has a little more power in terms of both boxes and the first ball, that will be a major strength.

Does Raggett have a future in the first-team at Norwich?

As it stands, it looks very unlikely. Considering the fact he is currently playing two divisions below Norwich and is four years older than Ben Godfrey, whilst also only being one year younger than Christoph Zimmermann, he needs to improve quickly if he wants to be in with a shot.

Assuming Norwich avoid relegation to the Championship, the step-up to the Premier League appears as though it will be one leap too far for the former Lincoln centre-back – who has never started a league match for the club.

Since joining the club in 2017, Raggett has made just two appearances for the Canaries in all competitions.
