Amadou rejected interest to sign for Norwich – new training ground paying off?

Norwich’s latest signing, Ibrahim Amadou, has revealed that he rejected interest from elsewhere to join the club.

Amadou claims that teams from other countries were keen to sign him, but he opted for Norfolk – joining on a season-long loan from Sevilla.

The Canaries also have an option to sign Amadou permanently at the end of the season.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Amadou said this:

I had interest from clubs in other countries, but my priority was to play in the Premier League.

I’ve spoken to the [Head] Coach. He seems like a good coach who will give me the opportunity to play.

I will have to show what I can do and make a good impression.

I know that the Club has invested in the Training Centre and wants to invest more – that’s a good thing.

I look forward to getting to know everybody better. The sooner I do that, the sooner I become part of the team.

This is a sign that Norwich’s investment in their training facilities was a very shrewd move by the club.

Norwich spent the summer refurbishing the training ground and adding extra facilities to Colney to enhance the experience of current players and attract potential new signings.

The club have been left frustrated in the past by missing out on signings due to the players in question not being impressed with the facilities. Both Toby Alderweireld, of Ajax at the time, and Sebastien Haller, of Utrecht at the time, were on the verge of joining Norwich before opting against moves to Carrow Road.

However, the new facilities appear to be working, with Ralf Fahrmann joining Norwich after playing in the Champions League with Schalke last season and now Amadou signing from Sevilla – despite interest from elsewhere. It is certainly a massive step in the right direction for the Canaries.
