Teemu Pukki plays down Benfica rumours

Since they gained promotion from to the Premier League, Norwich have had to contend with interest from other teams in some of their star players.

Reports have suggested that Portuguese giants Benfica are interested in striker Teemu Pukki following his impressive season.

However, according to reports on the Eastern Daily Press, Pukki has no intention of leaving the club this summer.

Speaking to Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, as reported by the EDP, Pukki claims he hasn’t thought about a move away and likes being in Norwich.

At least for the moment, I haven’t given any weight to that type of stuff.

However, Pukki, who scored 29 league goals for Norwich last season, was not completely definite about his future at Carrow Road. He is sure that’s where he can see himself next season, although he has said he would consider an offer if it came in.

Of course, if there were any offers, you should think about it. But I have a clear head. It’s the thought that I am going back to Norwich. It was really good for me and my family. It’s good to be in Norwich and that’s why I see no reason to leave.

With interest from Benfica, he may have to consider his future, but Pukki has said his head is clear at the moment and he is just focusing on playing in the Premier League next season.
