Norwich City can begin planning for the 2019/20 season now following the completion of their Championship campaign.
The Canaries secured the title on the final day of the season with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park just over two weeks ago, with Mario Vrancic and Teemu Pukki scoring on the day.
Stuart Webber and his team will now be hard at work looking to improve the squad and make it as ready for the Premier League as they possibly can come kick-off in August.
One area in which Norwich will need to strengthen is the striking department, with Teemu Pukki and Dennis Srbeny the club’s only senior strikers.
Although Pukki scored 30 goals this season for Norwich, Srbeny has scored two league goals since signing in January 2018 and is unlikely to make the step up.
Here are some strikers Norwich could sign to compete with Pukki next season…
Jordan Rhodes
Let’s start with the obvious one. Rhodes spent the season on loan from Sheffield Wednesday and scored nine goals for the club. He could come back on a permanent deal to support Pukki.
Dwight Gayle
West Brom have already revealed that they will not be signing Gayle permanently, despite his 24 goals for the club, and this could open the door for Norwich to swoop in and sign the Newcastle man. Norwich were linked with Gayle when they were last in the Premier League during the 2015/16 campaign.
Rhian Brewster
Brewster is highly rated at Liverpool, but has not yet had a full season of first-team football under his belt. He could come on loan to Norwich and prove that he can replicate his form at youth level in the top-flight.
Eddie Nketiah
Another young forward Norwich could look to snap up on loan is Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah. He scored his first Premier League goal on the final day of the season against Burnley and scored twice against Norwich in the League Cup back in 2017.
Tammy Abraham
If Aston Villa fail to secure promotion, Norwich should look to snap up Abraham on a season-long loan. He’s a proven goalscorer and would be a great addition to the squad to compete with Pukki in the Premier League.
Britt Assombalonga
If Norwich could wrangle a decent fee for Assombalonga, under £8m for example, he would be a superb signing. He’s a proven goalscorer and looks ready to make the step up to the Premier League.
Oli McBurnie
Swansea look to be going through a tough time and could be willing to part ways with some of their best players for reduced fees, which could give Norwich a chance at landing McBurnie. The talented young Scottish international would be a terrific signing for Norwich.
