Arsenal enter race for Norwich target Alexis Claude-Maurice
Norwich City could face stiff competition from Arsenal in their pursuit of Lorient’s Alexis Claude-Maurice this summer, with the Gunners reportedly eyeing a move for the striker.
Claude-Maurice has scored 14 and assisted four goals in 34 appearances for the Ligue 2 side, and the Canaries have been monitoring the 20-year-old’s progress this season.
However, according to the Mirror, Arsenal have now entered the race for the highly sought after striker, who has also attracted attention from the likes of LOSC Lille, Eintracht Frankfurt and AS Monaco.
Both Lille and Frankfurt are reportedly eyeing the 20-year-old as a potential replacement for Nicolas Pepe and Luka Jovic, respectively, while the Gunners see the striker as a backup option to their duo of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Claude-Maurice is reportedly valued at £9million by Lorient, a fee said to be well within Daniel Farke’s budget following Norwich’s automatic promotion to the Premier League this season.
The striker has been capped for France’s Under 18s, 19s and 20s, featuring over 21 times.
