Norwich are beginning to plan for life in the Premier League after they secured promotion this season.
The Canaries sealed their fate almost two weeks ago when they beat Blackburn 2-1 at Carrow Road, before sealing the title at Villa Park last Sunday with a 2-1 win over Dean Smith’s side.
Daniel Farke will be hoping to strengthen his squad with new additions and plug gaps in his team heading into, what will be, a tough Premier League campaign.
One area of trouble is right-back. Although Max Aarons is the undisputed first-choice, he will be the only “senior” right-back at the club starting from July – at the age of 19.
Norwich will need to sign a player to be a back-up, in case of injury, suspension of drop in form of Aarons throughout next season.
With that in mind, here are some defenders Norwich could target to bolster their squad…
Mehdi Zeffane
Zeffane is set to be available on a free transfer and has already been linked with Norwich. He could be the ideal choice to provide cover for Aarons.
Luis Advincula
Another player who has already been touted with a move to Norwich. The Peru international has decent pedigree and would be an exciting addition.
Felix Passlack
Norwich could just try to bring back Felix Passlack for another season and hope that Farke can continue his development. Whether that be permanently or on loan.
Callum Chambers
Chambers has spent most of this season playing as a holding midfielder, but can play at centre-back and right-back. He could be the ideal player for Norwich to sign on loan, to cover multiple positions.
Harrison Reed
Norwich could look to bring Reed back to the club, after performing well at right-back for Farke in the 17/18 campaign. He has also been linked with a return to Carrow Road.
Danny Simpson
Simpson has been released by Leicester and would be an experienced back-up for Norwich to rely on if and when they need him. As he’s been released, he also wouldn’t command a transfer fee, which is ideal in Norwich’s financial situation.
