Mario Vrancic scored a 97th minute free kick to rescue a point for Norwich City on Friday evening, with Daniel Farke’s side now needing just five more points to ensure promotion back to the Premier League.
The Canaries were on the cusp of suffering a surprise defeat against Sheffield Wednesday, despite Marco Stiepermann putting Farke’s side ahead.
Fernando Forestieri scored a wonderful equaliser from range for the Owls, who then went ahead in controversial fashion in the second half when Steven Fletcher appeared to bundle the ball over the line with his hand.
Vrancic’s stunning free kick rescued a point for the home side deep into stoppage time, however, and we asked supporters to vote for their Man of the Match following the Canaries’ third successive draw.
Here’s how Farke’s men faired in the ‘winner stays on’ style duel.
14: Timm Klose, 4%
The defender came on in the closing stages of the game
13: Dennis Srbeny, 6%
Similarly to Klose, Srbeny came on with six minutes of normal time remaining.
12: Ben Godfrey, 9%
A poor performance from Godfrey.
11: Onel Hernandez, 15%
A surprisingly low percentage of his duels won in this vote, given his energetic performance.
10: Jamal Lewis, 18%
Another who is surprisingly low on the list despite a strong performance
9: Tom Trybull, 26%
A decent performance from the midfielder.
8: Teemu Pukki, 36%
The striker had no real chances to speak of.
7: Christoph Zimmermann, 45%
Another consistent performance from the Norwich skipper.
6: Kenny McLean, 49%
McLean won just under half of his duels in the Man of the Match
5: Moritz Leitner, 55%
Perhaps slightly higher up than expected in this
4: Max Aarons, 57%
Another impressive performance from Aarons.
3: Mario Vrancic, 69%
Vrancic comes third in this vote following his stunning equaliser.
2: Marco Stiepermann, 73%
The midfielder voted as Norwich’s second best player against the Owls.
1: Tim Krul, 84%
Krul is voted as the fans’ Man of the Match following his impressive display. The shot-stopper produced a number of fine saves, including a contender for save of the season.
