Wildschut to undergo ankle surgery

Yanic Wildschut will undergo ankle surgery after sustaining a serious injury playing for Bolton, according to the official club website.

The winger was playing for his temporary club against Walsall in the FA Cup last weekend when he damaged the ligaments within his ankle, necessitating a surgical procedure.

The Dutchman is due to be on the sidelines for at least three months and will begin a lengthy rehabilitation process before he can take to the pitch again – in Norwich colours or not.

Wildschut will remain in Bolton for that process and will work with the Wanderers’ medical staff to return to match fitness.

Loaned out in the summer, the 27-year-old has been a player on the fringes of the Bolton squad, making just four starts in the Championship.

Bolton remain floundering at the bottom of the table, with just the other team from East Anglia sitting behind them in the standings.
