Daniel Farke’s Norwich did enough to see off a determined Stevenage side on Tuesday night, with a 3-1 home victory.
The Canaries booked a place in the second round of the Carabao Cup thanks to goals from Marco Stiepermann, Christoph Zimmermann and Teemu Pukki.
Farke’s men, who were heavily changed, needed time to grow into the game, with the scoreline not reflecting the overall performance on the night.
Here is how we rated the players after the game.
Michael McGovern: 5
Made one simple save, had no chance with the goal. Kicking was questionable.
Felix Passlack: 6
Physically lacking, but looked good going forward.
Christoph Zimmermann: 7
Struggled at times in the first half but was excellent in the second and scored a good goal.
Ben Godfrey: 8
Dominated the defence and didn’t make a mistake all game. Strong in the tackle and good on the ball.
Max Aarons: 8
Looked very promising down the left, given that he is naturally a right-back. Defended well and was good on the ball.
Tom Trybull: 8
Only managed through the first half due to injury, but he was superb in his 45 minutes – won the ball back countless times and never gave the ball away.
Louis Thompson: 8
Struggled to get in the game in the first 15 minutes, then began to run the game. After Trybull came off, he moved into the deeper role and won every single ball that came his way.
Marco Stiepermann: 7
Good movement for his goal. Drove forward well from midfield.
Todd Cantwell: 5
Wasn’t particularly awful, but did nothing that impressed.
Moritz Leitner: 8
Lovely assist for the first goal and should have had a second when he sent Srbeny through. Good display.
Dennis Srbeny: 6
Despite some decent hold up play in the second half, he missed two absolute sitters late on.
Teemu Pukki – 9
Kenny McLean – 6
Onel Hernandez – 7
