Norwich City returned to winning ways on Saturday as they beat promotion contenders Aston Villa 3-1 at Carrow Road.

The Canaries produced a dominant performance against Steve Bruce’s side and were well worth the three points.

The hosts controlled the first half but failed to create any clear-cut chances, before Josh Murphy came up with a moment of magic in the 45th minute.

Murphy drove inside from the right before smashing a left-footed strike into the top corner from 25-yards.

Villa struggled to cope with Murphy and he proved key in City’s second goal as well. He broke through down the left and played it to Harrison Reed, who crossed for Dennis Srbeny to convert his first for the club.

Jack Grealish pulled a goal back for Villa as he finished low from the edge of the box, with Gunn unable to see past a crowd of players.

James Maddison then rounded off the win as he smashed home from Josh Murphy’s run and lay-off.
