Norwich City are interested in signing Newcastle defender Grant Hanley, according to The Chronicle.
The report says that the Magpies are looking to sell Hanley in order to ‘free up squad space’, and Norwich could be looking for more steel at the back following a poor start to the season. The Canaries have conceded 12 goals in their first five games, and boss Daniel Farke may be looking to Hanley as a solution to their defensive woes.
Hanley has only been with Newcastle for a season, having signed from Blackburn Rovers last summer. In that time he has only play 17 times for Newcastle, scoring once.
Hanley has a link to Norwich captain Russell Martin, as they have played together for Scotland. Hanley has 27 caps to his name, and one international goal.
Norwich currently sit 22nd in the Championship, in the relegation zone. They next face Birmingham City at home after the international break.
