Our man of the match: Bristol City (A)

Norwich City were made to hold on for a draw as Bristol City outplayed Alex Neil’s side at Ashton Gate.

The Canaries were under the cosh for the final ten minutes but were able to hold out for a 1-1 draw against the side who sit in the bottom three of the Championship.

It was a game bereft of quality as neither side were able to cover themselves in glory as the match was engulfed in long-ball tactics and scrappy Championship play.

However, it was a moment of magic from Yanic Wildschut that opened the scoring. The winger picked the ball up on the left before cutting inside a firing a strike into the bottom corner from 22-yards out.

But Norwich were unable to hold on as a goal from Bailey Wright with 12 minutes to go secured a point for the home side when he fired the ball in after a pin-ball in the six-yard box.

Picking a man of the match has been difficult. None of the outfield players showed too much quality – aside Wildschut with the goal – but the goalkeeper did.

So our Norwich man of the match is Michael McGovern.

Fans complained pre-kick-off after McGovern was named in goal ahead of John Ruddy. However, the Northern Irishman made a number of excellent stops to win a point for Norwich.

He made a sublime low save in the second half, as well as a few good blocks and point-blank saves.
