Our man of the match: Brentford (H)

Norwich City ended a run of six losses without a win today by beating Brentford 5-0 at Carrow Road.

The Canaries were without a win in seven matches in all competitions but were able to register a win today to end their abysmal run of form.

It was also Norwich’s first clean sheet in 15 league matches this season. The last clean sheet came against Bristol City in August – with Michael McGovern in goal.

Jonny Howson and Ivo Pinto returned from injury, with both players impressing heavily throughout the game.

Norwich took the lead after just six minutes. Robbie Brady’s excellent cross was diverted in by Jacob Murphy, although the last touch may have come off John Egan.

Murphy then won a penalty in the area after he was hauled down. Graham Dorrans missed the spot-kick but was able to convert the rebound.

The third came in the second half when Robbie Brady slotted home neatly from Alex Pritchard’s centre.

Nelson Oliveira’s first Championship goal for the club then made it four as he swiveled and fired into the back of the net.

Former Brentford loanee Alex Pritchard then sealed the win in the closing moments as he stroked the ball into the goal to make it 5-0.

There were plenty of superb performances across the park today, with Jonny Howson, Robbie Brady, Jacob Murphy and Nelson Oliveira all playing incredibly well.

However, I have gone for Alex Pritchard as my man of the match.

The young midfielder was simply exceptional in the number ten role and ran the show going forward for the Canaries.

He scored a superb goal and set up Robbie Brady with an excellent cross – causing Brentford problems all afternoon.
