Norwich team news: Brentford (H)

Norwich City manager Alex Neil has handed out the latest squad news ahead of their clash with Brentford at Carrow Road.

Neil started with some excellent news for City fans. Jonny Howson has returned to training and will be in contention to start on Saturday.

Howson has been out of action for a number of weeks now, with the original projection being that he would be out until next year.

Speaking to Norwich’s website, Neil said this:

Jonny’s trained all week, so although he’s going to be short of match fitness, he’s looked fine.

Neil has also confirmed that fan favourite Ivo Pinto returns from his injury. The fullback has been missing since he went off injured in the warm-up before the loss to Preston.

Ivo’s in the same boat. When they’re both in the team, we seem to have a much better points tally. Both of them have trained this week, and we’ll make a decision on them.

Pinto has been absent for the entire losing streak that Norwich are currently enduring.

Cameron Jerome and Alex Tettey are, however, doubts after picking up knocks.

It’s been a concern for the last couple of weeks. I wouldn’t rule him (Jerome) out, but we’re still having to do a bit of work on it.

Alex felt his hip lock, which he had earlier in the season. That returned and he had to come off, and he’s a doubt as well.

Norwich are boosted by the return of Graham Dorrans and Martin Olsson – who both missed the last match with suspension.

Olsson signed a new contract earlier this week.

Louis Thompson is ruled out, having also missed the last two matches.
