Ipswich 1-1 Norwich: Five things learned

It was by no means a derby that will live long in the memory of either Norwich or Ipswich fans, but both sets of fans left feeling content that they didn’t have to deal with the humiliation of losing an Old Farm derby.

It was a game in which never side ever really got in to the swing of things, with both defences looking comfortable and the game being largely dictated by the physical battles in midfield.

If the half time whistle had come just a minute earlier, it’s likely we would be talking about a very different result. Norwich’s momentum was killed and Mick McCarthy’s men had something to hold on to. Norwich fans assumed their team couldn’t really perform much worse going in to the second half, but despite hitting the post they didn’t take the game to the hosts at all.
