With the season having just finished, it is time to start thinking about next season. And with that comes the annual Ricky Van Wolfswinkel debate; give him a chance or loan him out?
This will be the third season in-a-row in which this conversation will be had, having debated about this topic twice in two years. Van Wolfswinkel joined the club for a record transfer in 2013, but scored just once in his first season. This makes him Norwich’s biggest ever flop in most fans’ eyes.
Van Wolfswinkel has spent the past two seasons out on loan, at St Ettiene and Real Betis. He impressed for St Ettiene but they were unable to afford him on a permanent. Betis haven’t used him much, with Ruben Castro their start man up front.
So, with Norwich relegated to the Championship once more – should Ricky be given a chance to finally prove his worth? Well, it will be his last chance with just one year left on his Norwich contract as of this summer.
