Sunderland win sends Norwich down

Norwich City will be playing in the Championship again next season, despite a 4-2 win over Watford on Wednesday night.

Going into Wednesday’s fixture, the Canaries knew that nothing but a win would be suffice in trying to keep them in the Premier League.

However, a 3-0 win for Sunderland over Everton saw Norwich make a return to the Championship after just one season in the Premier League.

Alex Neil’s side battled relegation admirably but a run of nine league games without a win during their campaign ultimately decided their fate.

Norwich will join Aston Villa, who’s fate was already decided, and Newcastle in England’s second tier next season and will be looking to repeat the feat that they achieved when they were last relegated – an immediate return to the top flight.

The final game of the season will see Norwich take on Everton at Carrow Road, where only pride is at stake.
