Match Preview: Norwich vs Manchester United

Norwich host Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United side, with the Canaries needing to collect points in tomorrow’s 12:45pm kick-off ahead of their remaining two fixtures against Watford and Everton.

It’s crucial times for the two teams, with City currently sitting in 19th place after both Newcastle and Sunderland picked up points last weekend, whereas the Red Devils’ are fighting for a fourth place finish in the top flight as they sit in fifth place going into the weekend.

It is the latter who come into the game off the back of a draw against the newly-crowned Premier League Champions Leicester City, with wins against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa before that.

Manager Alex Neil will be hoping his team’s performance in their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal last weekend will hand his team a change of fate, with the Canaries failing to pick up a point since their win against Newcastle on April, 2.

The 34-year-old manager made five changes against the Gunners to the team who suffered a 3-0 defeat to Sunderland, with Russell Martin, Ivo Pinto, Nathan Redmond, Wes Hoolahan and Cameron Jerome starting for the Canaries. Whilst Van Gaal made three changes to the team which won against Palace, before his team saw victory in the FA Cup against Everton.

The Canaries and Red Devils have seen their fair share of results of the years, with their most recent match seeing the former victorious at Old Trafford in December, with goals from Cameron Jerome and Alex Tettey, whilst one of City’s most memorable matches against United saw goals from Dean Ashton and Leon McKenzie during the 2004/05 season.

Yellow fans will be hoping a repeat of those two occasions along with their Carrow Road victory in 2012/13, will be repeated to help secure the points before Newcastle travel to Aston Villa and Sunderland host Chelsea in the 3pm kick-offs.
