West Ham fans allowed to watch from comfort of home end

Norwich stewards allowed West Ham fans to watch their side’s comeback from the comfort of the home end on Saturday, despite constant calls from the home fans for them to be ejected from the ground.

The fans, sitting in the hospitality boxes in the middle of the Norwich & Peterborough stand, came to everyone’s attention after celebrating West Ham’s first goal and making themselves known to the home supporters with abusive gestures.

Unsurprisingly, the Norwich crowd instantly demanded the stewards to eject the away fans.

The situation then escalated when Mark Noble equalised, with tempers flaring on both sides.

The stewards, to their credit, spoke with fans who were calling for them to be removed. One said they had made the staff in the hospitality section aware of the Hammers fans and requested them to be removed, but they were not even spoken to as they watched their side rescue a point.

While it may not be the most important issue from the game, it remains a hugely frustrating matter for a club which constantly struggles to have tickets available for those Norwich fans who aren’t lucky (or unlucky, as has been the case with the recent performances) to watch their side every week.
