Neil pleased with opportunity to sign Bamford

Norwich boss, Alex Neil, has confirmed he is pleased to bring in Patrick Bamford who has signed on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.

The Championship’s player of the year last season was on loan at Crystal Palace for the first part of this campaign but struggled to break into the first-team so his loan with the Eagles was terminated early. However, with his parent club Chelsea signing Alexandre Pato, the door was opened for another loan move for Bamford and he joins the Canaries with the aim of giving Neil a positive selection headache in attack.

The 22-year-old, who has been capped twice at England U21 level, scored 19 goals for Middlesbrough in all competitions last season and will hope to recapture that sort of form to help steer the Canaries clear of relegation.

Neil told Norwich’s official website:

Patrick is a player who excelled last season and we are pleased to have the opportunity to bring him in. He’s a young forward determined to make his way in the game, and adds competition for us at the top end of the pitch.

Bamford could make his debut on Tuesday when Tottenham are the visitors to Carrow Road and Norwich will aim to bounce back to winning ways having lost their last three Premier League games.
