Norwich City midfielder Oscar Schwartau has praised his new tactical instructions after scoring a spectacular long-range goal during Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Birmingham City.
Manager Philippe Clement restored the 20-year-old to his preferred number 10 position for the Carrow Road fixture. The selection follows a brief rest period where Schwartau’s tactical versatility proved vital for squad rotation.
Distance Shooting Yields Crucial Victory
The Danish prospect admitted he struggled for early rhythm before lashing a right-footed shot past goalkeeper James Beadle. Pape Amadou Diallo secured a two-goal advantage before half-time, though Carlos Vicente reduced the deficit late on.
Speaking to The Pink Un, the midfielder delivered a candid assessment of his individual display.
“It was pretty important for the team and myself. I didn’t play that well up until the goal, but to score a goal like that is always a great feeling,” Schwartau said.
Unpredictable Edge Benefits Philippe Clement
The player confirmed his willingness to shoot from distance stems from a concerted effort to exploit space.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about shooting from outside the box, so it was just a great feeling to see it in,” he added.
His decisive finishing offers Clement a valuable dimension to break down stubborn Championship opposition. Norwich will look to build upon their consecutive league wins when they travel to face Middlesbrough on Saturday.
