- Coldplay’s curated World Cup show inspires new halftime entertainment ideas for Norwich City.
- Stephen Fry dramatic chant readings could provide a sophisticated lift at Carrow Road.
- Hugh Jackman and Saraya lead a list of celebrity-inspired halftime show proposals.
With the (terrible – Ed) news that Chris Martin and Coldplay will be doing a special curated halftime show for this year’s USA-based World Cup Final, it got me thinking if Norwich City should get on board with something that may take off.
Maybe starting tonight against Derby? 😉
Current halftime entertainment
I will be honest, I’ve been to a few Norwich City games this season, and I’m still not entirely sure what the half-time game is. Something to do with getting as many goals as possible in a short time frame (I think)?
Stephen Fry
I, for one, would love to see local icon and former board ambassador Stephen Fry do dramatic readings of Norwich City chants. The combination of intellectual prowess and a love of Norwich City should give us all the lift we need during a tough Championship game.
“On the Ball City” is a given but I reckon he would rock “Moroccans All Over The World” and “There’s A Rumour In The Town.”
Hugh Jackman
I have seen video evidence that Hugh Jackman is a Norwich City supporter.
Given his love of musical theatre, seeing him belt out The Greatest Show would be a joy. Although, to be fair, just him on the pitch and saying hello to everyone would be fun.
Or go full WWE during a game versus Wrexham and have him and Ryan Reynolds continue their zany frenemy bromance.
Delia Smith
I realise this borders on cruelty, but it would be funny to get Delia Smith tipsy and see what happens again.
Or this could be one of those Jurassic Park-type situations, where what I think I want would result in terrible consequences.
Wrestling
Saraya (aka Paige) and the Knight family were immortalised in Fighting With My Family. A bit of exuberant muscle ballet could be a laugh.
Grant Holt also appeared in an event with them. I for one would love to see him take a shot at Robbie Savage.
Or don’t…
I realise there will be people seeing this saying “We don’t need any form of half time entertainment. Half time is for buying drinks and going to the loo.”
I agree with this but given how these things filter down it would not surprise me if there is some attempt to have zany half time antics.
Or bring back the crossbar challenge. I actually understood that one.
