Norwich give themselves a glimmer of hope of avoiding relegation after beating out of form Leicester 1-0.
The Canaries made a bright start to the game with the ball spending the majority of its time in the Foxes defensive third. The home struggled to get a shot off though and Leicester looked dangerous on the break. Iheanacho, Barnes and Perez all had shots at Krul’s goal but they could find the breakthrough.
Both defences were coming out on top in the first half and the majority of the second half too and it looked like it was going to have to be a moment of magic if the sides were going to be separated.
With players like Maddison, Praet and Iheanacho spearheading the Foxes attack, your money would probably have been on the visitors producing that moment of magic.
And initially, it was. Iheanacho curled a sublime finish into the bottom corner but after a long VAR check, the goal was chalked off for handball in the build-up.
Next came the moment of magic from the most unlikely source. Godfrey sprayed the ball out to Aarons and his overhit cross fell into the path of Lewis. He chested the ball down and struck the ball with the outside of his boot and before you knew it, the ball was nestled in the back of the net.
Lewis’ second-ever goal in a yellow shirt might have just started the survival bid…
Here are our Norwich player ratings.
Tim Krul - 7
Made a few relatively easy saves throughout the game but wasn’t forced into producing anything like his best.
Max Aarons - 9
Assisted Lewis’ stunner and played like a winger all game. He didn’t need a second invitation to bomb forward. He almost got on the end of a ball from Krul but Schmeichel gathered well.
Ben Godfrey - 8
Shot straight at the keeper with a clear-headed chance and put an inch-perfect pass into the path Aarons in the build-up to Lewis strike. After a shaky performance against Wolves, he looks to have refound some form.
Grant Hanley - 8
He was always the first to the ball and didn’t give the strikers a moments peace. Another solid performance for the Canaries captain.
Jamal Lewis - 8
What. A. Goal. One of the sweetest strikes you’ll see took the focus off his nervy looking performance. He messed up an attempted clearance and made a couple of poor passes but that will be forgotten quickly after his first goal in the Premier League.
Alex Tettey - 8
Looked keen to get forward and was his usual self defensively.
Kenny Mclean - 8
He had the tricky task of dealing with Maddison but he restricted the former Canary well. Going forward, he made a few sloppy passes but for the most part, he found his man.
Todd Cantwell - 8
He was always looking to take the game to his man but his final product was sometimes lacking quality. He did link up well with Duda though.
Ondrej Duda - 8
Tested Schmeichel twice late on but did look hesitant to take a shot on earlier in the game. His passing was sublime and it seems when he plays well, the team plays well.
Emi Buendia - 8
Back by popular demand and back to his creative best. Slid the ball through to Duda for his shot that went straight at Schmeichel. Overall, a good performance from the Argentine.
Teemu Pukki - 8
Had his early shot blocked by Souyuncu but apart from that,he was starved of opportunities. The Fin was very helpful defensively and with build-up play though.
