Norwich City make their second trip to Merseyside this season on Saturday when they face fellow strugglers Everton.
Everton currently sit fifteenth but their form of late has got slightly better. The Toffees have picked up 10 points from their last five games and are also unbeaten in that time.
The opposite has happened to the visitors as they sit at the very bottom of the table. After a positive start beating Manchester City and Newcastle, the Canaries performances have tailed off with the Norfolk side not winning since that historic win against Guardiola’s side.
As for the match itself, all the pointers are in Everton’s direction. With the home crowd behind them and being them inform team, the Goodison Park faithful will almost be expecting their side to get the three points.
With injuries and form taken into consideration, here is our predicted XI to face the Toffees.
GK: Tim Krul
At this rate, Krul is running away with Norwich’s player of the season award. His remarkable saves have kept Norwich in games.
RB: Sam Byram
We’ve put City’s only first team recruit in for only his third start of the season. After being in the back line that defied all the odds and kept wave after wave of Manchester City attacks at bay, Byram was dropped as soon as Aarons was fit again. But Aarons’ performances of late have been very average so we think it’s time to give the former Leeds man a go.
CB: Ben Godfrey
Godfrey has only played at centre-back for just over a season but you’d never be able to tell that with his performances so far this campaign. The youngster has been brilliant this season and has captained both his club and his country (u21’s).
CB: Christoph Zimmermann
We’re putting Zimmermann back in the team after an injury hit second half of the year. The German was a fan-favourite last season so he’ll be crucial if City want to stop this run of losses.
LB: Philip Heise
With Lewis injured, Heise will get his first minutes in a league game for Norwich against the Toffees. He signed for the Canaries in January but due to Lewis’ performances, he hasn’t had a look in but this is his chance to prove himself.
CDM: Tom Trybull
Crucial to stop the opposition advancing too close to Krul’s goal and can start an attack with quick passing.
CM: Kenny McLean
We’re putting the Scottish international in the team after overcoming a minor problem during the international break. McLean has divided opinion this season but he showed his quality last season so he’s in our XI.
LM: Todd Cantwell
After his short appearance against Watford that impressed many City fans and with Buendia’s lack of form, it’s hard not to put Cantwell in.
CAM: Marco Steipermann
After a difficult start to the season which ultimately saw him get dropped, Steipermann seemed more like the attacking midfielder of old against Watford. This one was a difficult choice due to the return of fan favourite Vrancic but we’ve gone for the German to start against the Toffees.
RM: Onel Hernandez
His quick direst play causes hovac for opposition defences. Always willing to take on his man, the Cuban is a certain starter.
ST: Teemu Pukki
After scoring another three goals for Finland to help them qualify for their first ever major tournament, City fans will be hoping he carry that form into the vital game on Saturday.
