Norwich player ratings: Manchester United (H)

City lost for the seventh time this season, this time to fallen giants Manchester United.

The game ended 3-1 but that was overshadowed by more VAR controversy – something Norwich had, in the most part, avoided so far this season.

Cantwell blazed a shot over from about 10 yards after four minutes but after that the Red Devils controlled the first half only affording the Canaries the odd flurry out their own half.

United’s opener was a thumping strike from holding midfielder McTominay inside the eighteen yard area.

Then came the first of two VAR involvements. Initially James went over in the box and referee Stuart Atwell saw nothing wrong with the tackle from Godfrey. Then the ball went out for a throw and the dreaded words ‘Checking Penalty’ appeared on the big screen. After a lengthy delay the decision was overturned and Manchester United had the penalty. Much to the delight of many inside Carrow Road, Krul dived to his right and saved.

Carrow Road erupted like their team had scored but just minutes later, the ground was silenced again thanks to a Rashford goal. The England striker found himself unmarked in the middle and he cooly slotted past Krul.

After that, VAR overturned another decision and United were awarded another chance to score from the spot. But much to the delight of City fans it was again a save from Krul.

In the second half, Martial added a third for the Red Devils but Norwich got one back late on through a great solo run and finish by substitute Hernandez.

With all that in mind, here are our player ratings…
