Norwich City picked up their first points of the Premier League campaign on Saturday as they beat Newcastle 3-1 at Carrow Road.
Teemu Pukki opened the scoring in the first-half for the Canaries as he smashed in a volley from just inside the box, finding the back of the net with a fierce strike.
The Finnish forward then doubled Norwich’s tally as he collected Todd Cantwell’s pass before firing the ball into the bottom corner past Martin Dubravka.
He completed his hat-trick by once again taking the ball from Cantwell and drifting past his marker to finish coolly into the bottom corner.
Jonjo Shelvey pulled one back in stoppage time for the visitors, as he turned Grant Hanley inside and out before curling the ball into the far corner to make it 3-1.
But, who were the winners and losers for Norwich from the game? We have decided to take a look…
Winner: Tom Trybull
Tom Trybull came out of the game with plenty of plaudits after a strong defensive display in the middle of the park. He worked tirelessly in the midfield and won the ball back a number of times to set Norwich on the attack. With the arrival of Ibrahim Amadou set to put pressure on his position, Trybull seems to have nailed down his place in the side for now.
Loser: Ibrahim Amadou
Speaking of the loanee from Sevilla, Amadou may have to wait a bit longer to make his Premier League bow. The midfielder has not been involved in a matchday squad yet, but could come in for Norwich’s League Cup clash with Crawley next week.
Winner: Teemu Pukki
Of course, Teemu Pukki had to be on this list of winners. The Finnish international scored a hat-trick, including a sensational volley, and went home with the match ball. What a performance from the centre-forward!
Loser: Grant Hanley
Although his display was an improvement on his performance against Newcastle, he still produced a number of clumsy errors at the back and switched off to allow Newcastle to score late on. Not only could it cost him his place once Zimmermann and Klose are fit, but he also got an earful from Tim Krul after Shelvey’s shot found the back of the net.
Winner: Tim Krul
Tim Krul produced another fine display as he got one over his former side at Carrow Road. It was his first appearance against Newcastle since leaving Tyneside and made a couple of impressive saves, whilst also dealing well with crosses into the box.
Loser: Ralf Fahrmann
With Krul continuing to impress between the sticks, Ralf Farhmann looks as though he will also have to wait longer for his Premier League bow in goal. The German, like Amadou, could get the chance to make his debut in the League Cup – which comes after the home clash with Chelsea.
