Norwich player ratings: Newcastle (H)

Norwich City hosted Newcastle United in their first Premier League game back at Carrow Road for over three years.

The Canaries were up for the occasion and started their campaign at home in fine style, thrashing the Magpies 3-1.

In the first-half, Norwich dominated Newcastle, controlling possession, and creating chance after chance, despite the odd threat from the Magpies on the counter-attack. Norwich opened the scoring, thanks to a Teemu Pukki volley,

In the second-half it was much of the same, with the hosts bossing the game, and getting a further two goals, with Newcastle not posing much of a threat, despite bagging a late goal in stoppage-time.

Teemu Pukki became the star of the show, scoring a superb volley to give Norwich the lead at half-time, before scoring two more goals in the second-half to complete his first hat-trick in yellow colours, and becoming the league’s top scorer with four goals from just two games.

Despite Pukki’s Man-of-the-Match performance, many other of the players impressed. Todd Cantwell registered two assists, and Mo Leitner was superb in midfield.
