Owen tips Norwich for relegation – are his concerns valid?

Pundit Michael Owen has tipped Norwich City to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

Owen says that he sees Norwich struggling due to the fact that they have kept faith with the team that got them promoted – rather than strengthening heavily.

As quoted by The Pink’Un, Owen said this:

Daniel has largely placed his faith in the Canaries’ side who won last season’s Championship. There is a huge gulf in class between the two leagues and I feel Norwich’s Premier League stay will be fleeting.

Is Owen right to be wary of Norwich’s chances following their promotion from the Championship?

He certainly has a potentially valid point. The gap in quality between the Championship and the Premier League is ever-growing and the majority of Norwich’s squad are untested in the division – making them somewhat of an unknown quality.

Although they impressed in the Championship and were rightful winners of the league, no one can be sure that the players are able to make the step up to the Premier League on a consistent basis.

Of course, Norwich fans want to be optimistic and believe that they can avoid the drop, but it’s hard to blame pundits looking in from the outside for predicting that they could struggle to muster up the necessary points.
