Middlesbrough eyeing move for Dwight Gayle

Middlesbrough are the latest team to join the race to sign Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle this summer.

According to The Daily Star, via Sky Sports, Middlesbrough are interested in a deal to sign Gayle ahead of next season.

The report claims that Middlesbrough are eyeing a swoop for Gayle to spearhead their attack as they aim to be promoted from the Championship.

Norwich and Aston Villa have both been linked with a move for Gayle, with both sides playing in the Premier League next season – the former going up as champions and the latter winning the play-offs.

Gayle spent the season on loan to West Brom from Newcastle, where he was able to score 24 times for the Baggies in the league – an impressive return.

Norwich will need to strengthen their squad ahead of their Premier League season and competition for top goalscorer Teemu Pukki looks to be on the cards.
