Norwich eyeing move for Liverpool defender Conor Masterson

Norwich are looking to sign Liverpool defender Conor Masterson on a free transfer next month, according to the Liverpool Echo, cited by the Hartlepool Mail.

The youngster is expected to leave Merseyside next month when his current Reds contract expires, and it appears as if Norwich are the front runners to secure the 20-year-old’s services.

Masterson has never turned out in a first-team competitive encounter for Liverpool, however, the former Lucan United defender has made the matchday squad on three occasions.

The youngster was on the bench for Liverpool’s FA Cup tie against Exeter City back in 2016, the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City in 2018 and the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park four weeks later.

Norwich themselves are preparing for life back in the Premier League after winning the Championship title last season, and with Daniel Farke placing his trust in young defenders Ben Godfrey and Max Aarons last season, signing Masterson could be a shrewd signing by the Canaries.
