Norwich City could be dealt a blow in their pursuit of right-back Mehdi Zeffane as he has entered talks over a new deal with Rennes.
According to Le10 Sport, Zeffane is in negotiations with Rennes over an extended contract, but he could also be tempted with a move away.
This means that a transfer to Norwich is not completely out of the question, as the club look to sign a right-back this summer.
With Felix Passlack returning to Borussia Dortmund and Ivo Pinto leaving upon the expiry of his contract, Max Aarons will be Norwich’s only senior right-back in the Premier League next season, as it stands.
Zeffane’s current deal with Rennes expires this summer and Norwich are reportedly looking to snap him up on a free transfer.
The Algerian international is capable of playing at right-back or left-back and joined Rennes from French giants Lyon back in 2015 on a four-year deal.
Alternative right-backs Norwich could sign
The talented Chelsea youngster can play right-back, centre-back and central midfield and would be an excellent addition to Norwich’s squad.
Walker-Peters can play at right-back or on the right side of midfield and would be a good option for Norwich in multiple positions.
If West Brom fail to secure promotion, Norwich could swoop in and try to sign him from Everton this summer.
The Chelsea youngster has impressed on loan at Coventry this season and could be tempted by a move to Norwich.
