Norwich are in talks over a deal to sign Rennes defender Medhi Zeffane this summer, according to Le 10 Sport, as cited on Tribal Football.

Zeffane is out of contract with his parent club this June, and even though Rennes want to keep their man, the defender has his heart set on a move away this summer.

The 26-year-old has reportedly attracted some interest from teams across Europe, but it is Norwich who have been quickest off the mark in efforts to sign him.

Norwich have been encouraged with early talks they have had with the player, and hope to finalise the deal soon.

Mehdi Zeffane has made 30 appearances for Rennes in all competitions this season, with 19 coming in Ligue 1.

The Algerian international came through the academy at Lyon and in 2015 he made the move to Rennes where he has been ever since.

The right-back has been part of a Rennes side that have enjoyed a successful campaign this season.

They look set to finish 13th in Ligue 1 but they reached the final of the Coupe de France, and they beat PSG on penalties after the game finished 2-2 in regulation time.

Norwich pride themselves on having talented and fearless young players and Daniel Farke’s ideology has served them very well this season.

There is no doubt that they will have to strengthen this summer to add a bit more depth to their squad and Zeffane may be the first of many to come through the doors at Carrow Road.
