Norwich lost for the first time in 14 away league matches as they were humbled 3-1 by Preston on Wednesday night.
Mario Vrancic was injured on Sunday against Ipswich and it was his replacement, Alex Tettey, who made a mistake in the midfield as he gave it away before Preston won a free-kick and opened the scoring inside two minutes.
Paul Gallagher then made it two from the penalty spot after a foul from Emi Buendia in the box.
Marco Stiepermann had a golden chance to equalise from the spot minutes later, but saw his effort saved by Declan Rudd.
Maguire made it three for Preston in the second half, before Teemu Pukki pulled one back in stoppage time.
Here are our player ratings for Norwich…
Tim Krul: 3
Beaten by three of Preston’s four efforts on goal and his kicking was poor.
Max Aarons: 5
Made some decent tackles, but not as his best.
Christoph Zimmermann: 4
Caught out too many times.
Ben Godfrey: 6
Did fairly well, compared to others. Was unlucky not to score.
Jamal Lewis: 5
Much like Aarons, he wasn’t at his best.
Tom Trybull: 3
Didn’t help that his central midfield teammate couldn’t pass five yard balls, but Trybull didn’t help himself at all. Too many clumsy fouls and was hooked at half-time.
Alex Tettey: 2
Was almost inevitable that he was going to make a mistake that cost Norwich, but it was surprising that he managed to do it within just over a minute of the game starting. Shocking.
Emi Buendia: 3
Naive push for the penalty and far too many sloppy passes.
