Our man of the match: Wigan (H)

Our man of the match: Wigan (H)

Norwich secured their fourth straight win in the Championship on Saturday as they beat Wigan 1-0 at Carrow Road.

Mario Vrancic converted a penalty in the 87th minute to seal the three points, in a game Norwich deserved to win.

Pukki had the best chance of the first-half when he latched onto a poor back-pass, only to be hauled down from behind – with the referee deciding not to give a penalty, much to everyone in the ground’s bemusement.

Norwich eventually saw justice as Pukki was taken down again in the box – in the 87th minute – and Vrancic slotted it down the middle.

Picking a man of the match has been hard, with a number of good performances across the pitch for Norwich.

Timm Klose, Christoph Zimmermann and Marco Stiepermann were all excellent, as well as solid displays from the likes of Mo Leitner, Jamal Lewis and Tim Krul.

But, our Norwich man of the match is… Teemu Pukki!

The Finnish striker may not have added to his goal tally, but he won the penalty which secured the three points and should have had another in the first-half.

He worked the back four all game and his work-rate was terrific. He used his clever movement to get in-behind on several occassions and created a few chances for Marco Stiepermann to strike during the second-half.
