Our man of the match: Wycombe (Cup)
Norwich City beat Wycombe 4-3 on Tuesday night to progress through to the fourth round of the League Cup.
The Canaries stamped their authority on the game early on as they scored twice in the opening 15 minutes.
Jordan Rhodes made it 1-0 as he chested the ball in from close-range in the 12th minute, before the forward fired in a second from distance just three minutes later.
Wycombe pulled one back, before Tom Trybull added a third for Norwich with a precise header from a corner.
Rhodes completed his hat-trick six minutes into the second-half when he flicked the ball past the keeper in the six-yard box.
Wycombe managed to score a second as they were awarded a controversial penalty after their player appeared to shove Ben Godfrey in the box – only for the referee to penalise Godfrey.
McCarthy made it 4-3 late on but Norwich were able to hold on for the win.
Picking a man of the match has been fairly easy, with one man standing out above the rest.
Emi Buendia picked up three assists, but it was Jordan Rhodes who stole the headlines.
Our man of the match for Norwich is, of course, Jordan Rhodes!
The Scottish international netted three times – with three clinical finishes – and held the ball up well up front.
He used his experience in the final moments of the game to secure the win, holding the ball in the corner flag instead of going for goal.
Rhodes now has five for the season and has staked a claim to play alongside Teemu Pukki against Wigan.
