Norwich target Martin rejects Sunderland move

Norwich target Chris Martin, is believed to have turned down the opportunity to join Sunderland on loan this month, according to reports.

Sunderland thought they had beaten fellow Championship sides Norwich and Leeds United in the race for the forward’s services, however, the striker has turned down the opportunity to work with Chris Coleman, giving Canaries boss Daniel Farke a real boost in his attempts to bring the player back to Carrow Road.

Martin, 29, left the Canaries back in 2013 and joined Derby as a free agent, where he has found the back of the net 57 times in the Championship in 170 appearances.

However, the Scottish international now looks set for a loan move away from Derby until the end of the season, with the striker dropping down the pecking order under boss Gary Rowett, and he hasn’t started a game since the beginning of December.
