Our man of the match: Charlton (H)

Norwich City came from behind to beat League One Charlton in the 2nd round of the League Cup on Tuesday.

The Canaries got off to the worst possible start. The ball bounced through to Lee Novak in the box and he lifted the ball into the top corner past Michael McGovern in the 5th minute.

Norwich eventually found their equaliser in the 21st minute. The ball broke loose in the box and Josh Murphy hammered home a half-volley to make it 1-1.

The winger then put Norwich in front in the 52nd minute as he worked space on the byline before curling the ball into the far corner.

Murphy turned provider for Marley Watkins in the 74th minute, cutting the ball back for the Welsh forward to tap home his first goal for the club.

Tom Trybull came off the bench for his debut, sealing the win in the 89th minute by volleying the ball into the far corner from 12-yards.

Picking a man of the match has been easy, with one man standing above the rest.

Our Norwich man of the match against Charlton is… Josh Murphy!

The talented winger was exceptional and was the best player on the pitch by a distance.

Charlton’s right-back was having a torrid time against him. Every time Murphy got the ball Norwich either won a corner or he created a chance.

His first goal was the best goal of the night, and his second wasn’t bad either…

That’s three goals and two assists in two games for Murphy now, after a goal and an assist against Aston Villa at the weekend.

He is in top form.
