Norwich set to miss out on Spurs midfielder
Norwich City are set to miss out on signing highly rated Tottenham midfielder Josh Onomah, as he moves closer to finalising a move with Championship promotion favourites Aston Villa.
According to the Mirror, the long-term freak kidney injury recently picked up by Villa midfielder Jack Grealish was a significant factor in his decision to leave North London on loan as the Vilan’s look to bolster their central midfield options.
Norwich and Wolves were both keen on landing the box-to-box midfielder, after a number of impressive displays for England Young Lions as they went on to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup this summer, beating Venezuela 1-0 in the final.
The Canaries have had a close working relationship with Spurs in recent years, since the Chris Hughton era began with the loan signing of the then-unknown talent of Harry Kane. The more recent signing, however, of Alex Pritchard from White Hart Lane has proved much more successful.
Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber has admitted the club is still pursuing a number of new additions to the squad before the season gets into full flow in September, after the City squad suffered a number of injuries during a physically demanding pre-season.
