Norwich City dropped down to fourth today with a 1-0 loss to Preston at Carrow Road.
The defeat comes as a surprise for Norwich fans – with the loss being the first one that Norwich have suffered at Carrow Road this season. This leaves Aston Villa with the only unbeaten home record in Championship this season.
Norwich never got going in the game, with Preston setting out their stall early on and doing a fantastic job of containing the home side.
Cameron Jerome missed a plethora of chances in front of goal, as Norwich rued their missed opportunities.
Preston have been praised for their work from set-pieces this season, and that was their source of success again today. Alex Baptiste headed home from seven-yards out after a free-kick delivery to hand Preston the three points.
Good performances were few and far between for Norwich – so picking a man of the match has been a difficult task to say the least.
Timm Klose, Ryan Bennett and Graham Dorrans all put in decent enough performances, but I have gone for Michael McGovern as my man of the match.
McGovern has gone under the radar because of a lack of clean sheets, but his performances in recent months have been top quality. As soon as he has a settled back-four that are not making mistakes every game – his quality will be apparent to all.
The Northern Irish international made a number of impressive saves today, and he commanded his box well when needed.
