Norwich target wants to leave current club

RC Lens central defender Jean-Philippe Gbamin has requested to leave his current club. The defender has made 26 apperances for the Ligue 2 side this season, scoring a goal in this time. He broke through the youth ranks at RC Lens in 2012, and also has represented France across various levels, ranging from the U18s to the U21s.

Journalist Laurent Mazure reported this news on the 2nd of June, stating:

Gbamin veut quitter le #RCLens : “Mieux pour ma progression” via @lequipe. This roughly translates to say:’ Gbamin wants to leave #RCLens : “Better for my progression ” via @lequipe’

The 20 year old centre back was previously linked to Norwich back in the January transfer window, due to his displays in the French 2nd Division. Other top clubs have also been linked with a move for the French International, so Norwich will have competition in trying to secure his signature, if they do decide to go for him . With the player wanting to play at a higher level, this could be the answer to Norwich’s defensive worries.
