Sheffield Wednesday Manager Carlos Carvahal wants to keep on-loan striker Gary Hooper at Hillsborough.

Speaking after the Owl’s 1-0 win over Fulham, where Hooper played the full ninety minutes and came close to scoring at Craven Cottage.

Hooper has managed to force his way into Wednesday’s starting eleven, after appearing mostly from the bench in the early stages of his loan spell. He has managed to appear on the scoresheet twice, managing to notch goals against Milton Keynes Dons and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The former Celtic man joined Norwich in the Summer of 2013, making 35 appearances in his first season in yellow and green, scoring 8 times. After Norwich were relegated to the Championship, Hooper saw limited first team opportunities, still managing to score 10 goals and make over 21 league appearances.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Carvahal said that he has been impressed by Hooper so far, and would like to keep him, but it is probably out of his hands.

I wish, seeing as it’s been my first option since the beginning as I tell them. I wish that he’d stay here of course, but let’s see as it’s something that I can’t control. Let’s see in the future.
